Drake – Wu-Tang Forever »

So it’s like an angrier version of Marvin’s Room…

Nice little taste of Nothing Was The Same.

KT on Kiss Land »

Hi Blair. So, I’m bringing us back to life… ha, HEY!

…Anyway, if you know me at all, you know that only The Weeknd has the power to resurrect my blogging. Aaaaaaand Kiss Land dropped yesterday, so my mind has been in trippy-R&B heaven for the past 24 hours. YEEE.

Overall, the album is what you probably expected. Nothing strays from his usual sound. Even Drake has his default cameo. But if you are like me and love his soulful, brokenhearted, come-down sound, then you’re a happy kid. And we can always appreciate that one song with an extra MJ vibe, (like D.D.) which this time around is Wanderlust and will be the soundtrack to my life for the indefinite future.

If I were to change one thing, I have to say that I wish there were a few more guest appearances. Though Abel’s voice is amazing and we can always count on Drake, it’s good to spice up the sound. Even hearing the Juicy J say 2 sentences at the end of Same Old Song on Echoes of Silence was welcomed.

So ya, provided is the full stream and track list provided by the beloved Hypetrak.com. Go dig.

Beat It - Sean Kingston feat. Chris Brown and Wiz Khalifa

Well can we start off this post by saying WELCOME BACK SEAN KINGSTON!

We are all so glad you made a full recovery… and that you are continuing to make some JAMZZZZ.

Honestly, I would listen to this beat even without vocals. It’s. Just. That. Good.

And as for Chris Brown, I mean he isn’t my fave, but he definitely still has that spark behind the mic, no one can deny that. Plus Sean’s loveable teddy-bear-ness needs some spice. Wiz always is a fantastic add-on too, even though he looks too high to function in this video.

But AHHHHH… You know this jam is about to be blasting through your speakers until the end of summer. With lines like: “You got your eyes on me and girl he got his eyes on you, my eyes are on this money and there’s nothin’ he can do.” WHAT KIND OF A LINE IS THAT?! Fire. That is fire. And I’m a girl and I still think it’s gold.

Boom. Enjoy.

Ciara- “Body Party”.

Produced by Mike Will Made It (obviously). Another jam from him. His ad lib is so fun to say! He really just needs to make it the hook to a song already. And where have you been Ciara? “One, Two Step” was my ish in 2005. ish.

Please excuse me, I’m gonna go listen to this three more times in a row. I just wish it had a verse from Future. The sample is such a tease! BTW, recently realized I’m totes on Team Future.

Passion Pit Ft. Juicy J- Constant Conversation

bangthisblog:

Honestly, its too way early for me to put too much thought into this caption…

But daaaang Juicy, nice move. This collab is not one that I thought was going to be fire, but consider the match lit. This will be in my ear buds for the rest of the day.

Mos Def - Ms. Fat Booty

This will never get old and no one can argue that.

I don’t care what his name is now (don’t worry, I do actually know) or what movie he’s in or if he’s getting his hot chocolate from Alicia Keys at a diner. This will be one of his greatest contributions to the world and it’s hard for me to not put this song on every time open my iTunes.

"N the Traffic"- Droop-E ft. Nite Jewel and J. Stalin

An excellent new track from Droop-E, son of E-40 aka 40 Water. Definitely not what I was expecting when I clicked play, its a lot more slowed down, refined, softer, than his father’s ultra hyphy party shit. Not that a little E-40 doesn’t have its own time and place. This beat has a trippy, Clams Casino vibe going on. No comment on J. Stalin’s questionable name choice.

"We Up"- 50 Cent ft. Kendrick Lamar and Kidd Kidd

First of all who is Kidd Kidd?

Second, isn’t it strange that we now live in an age of two music videos? Artists have started releasing a “lyrics video” along with the single, then following up with the official video later. However, the lyrics videos are usually just that, stylized words on a screen. This is the first one I’ve seen that features the actual artists. I mean, this is a music video in itself! Honestly, I didn’t realize that it wasn’t the actual video until it said “Official Video Coming Soon” at the end. (Note: I really like this video. The whole world should be in black and white with red and gold accents. Plus, cool shots of champagne bottles poppin!)

I mean the two videos approach makes sense, in a time when a shit load of the music we listen to is on Youtube. It used to be fans who would make their own lyrics videos and post them before the official video was released. Music labels had the annoying habit of shutting those down, so there were always a million for any given song, and it was always a crapshoot which would work and which wouldn’t. Well, at least the labels recognized the demand and started making their own. Touché. Guess they aren’t all evil.

I’ve only listened to the song once and I feel… just ok about it.

Trinindad James- “All Gold Everything (remix ft. T.I., Young Jeezy and 2 Chainz)

So apparently I’m late to the party on this remix but it has 2 Chainz you guys! Everything that comes out of his mouth makes me happy. I was really upset that we saw literally NONE of him on The Grammy’s telecast. Except for like a second when he was behind someone on the red carpet. Don’t the people who run that shit know who we want to see?? 2 Chainz. Doing all the stuff. and Prince. And Wiz. And Sting. That’s it. Ok fine, and Rihanna. Did anyone else catch the death stare she gave her bodyguard after he stepped on her dress on the red carpet? Epic.

Related: I can’t find a torrent for “Based on a TRU Story (Chopped Not Slopped)” and it’s really stressing me out. I need this in my life. Is there a remix to I’m Diffrent??!?
